Edinburgh EEG Group

Document Actions
EEG Cap This is the website of the Edinburgh Electroencephalogram Group (EEG). This group was set up in September 2005 to bring together researchers who use, or are interested in using, electroencephalography. Although the group is primarily aimed at researchers based at the University of Edinburgh, we are more than happy to welcome members who are interested in this area and are based at other institutions. We meet on a fortnightly basis to discuss methodological issues surrounding EEG research, and to share our own research findings.

The group is inter-disciplinary, with researchers using EEG methods to research questions from various areas, including: language, memory, visual processing, auditory processing, face perception, intelligence, clinical populations, and parapsychological stimuli. As indicative of the literature, the main method used by group members is often event-related potentials (ERPs), but other analysis techniques are also used, such as: global field power (GFP), frequency analysis (FFT), event-related band power/amplitude (ERBP/ERBA), and partial least squares analysis (PLS).

The majority of the group members are based in the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences, but there are members based in other schools and institutions around the University, as well as organisations outside of the University.

  • Current members of the group are listed here.
  • Download copies of group talks and lectures.
  • Find out more about the EEG technology we use.
If you would like further details, or would like to join the group, please contact Ian Baker.
